KSE: Analytics of Food Procurement Market Leaders

As part of a SmartTender and KSE joint special project, we present the fourth block of analytics on the leaders of public procurement markets. This time, the team of the Center for Excellence in Procurement of the Kyiv School of Economics (hereinafter – the CEP team) represents the dynamics of the most successful participants-winners of competitive procurement in the food markets.

How to Read Infographics?

The CEP team has selected completed competitive tenders in five categories by 4 CPV digit, held from the beginning of 2020 to the present day. Then they ranked the TOP-20 of the most successful tender winners for this period and showed monthly cumulative (total) dynamics in the overall rating.

What Tenders Are Included in the List?

The selection includes top markets related to the following food:

The CEP team divided these key classes into three submarkets: "Dairy Products" (including milk, cream and cheese products), "Meat" (meat and fish) and "Bread and Cereals".

Leaders of the Bread and Cereals Submarket

In the combined segment "Bread and cereals" for 2020-2021 cereals and bread products were purchased under competitive procedures for almost UAH 2 billion. The first positions are occupied by traditional suppliers for the penitentiary system:

• • BM-Consulting LLC – with an income of UAH 90 million;
  • S&A LLC – with an income of UAH 172 million.

Among the direct producers, Kyivkhlib has the strongest position with a profit of UAH 133 million.

Leaders of the Dairy Products Submarket

Submarket of dairy products has UAH 3.7 billion of competitive completed purchases in 2020-2021. The largest market share is in Firm Favor LLC with UAH 269 million. This is an old supplier that has been operating in the public procurement market since the “Vistnyk” times. Producers (for example, Derazhnyansky Dairy Plant) also try to work with public customers directly.

Leaders of the Meat and Fish Submarket

In the combined segment "Meat and Fish", the amount of purchases for 2020-2021 is UAH 4.5 billion. Amy On and Kariota have the strongest positions through supplies to the penitentiary system. This was facilitated by a three-year framework agreement on beef worth UAH 1.53 billion concluded in 2019.
