History of the Holiday

It is no coincidence that the Day of Ukrainian Statehood is celebrated on July 28. This date has a special symbolic meaning because it was on this day in 988 that Prince Volodymyr the Great baptised Kyivan Rus, which became the basis for the formation of Ukrainian statehood and cultural heritage. And on August 24, 2021, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree establishing this public holiday.

In the language of the ancestors of the past, we hear a call for unity and courage. As loyal sons and daughters of Ukraine, we will carry on the legacy of our forefathers, because where our ancestors stood, we stand today. United side by side, we are preserving our independence and culture to pass it on to our descendants. The fire of national dignity lives in each of us, lighting the way to the future of our Motherland. Let our common determination become a bridge that will connect generations, and let faith in our Victory turn into an unconquerable force.
