On July 2, 2021, in the Prozorro.Sale system the first auctions for the lease of commercial station space were held. Participants were very active, which resulted in a 47% increase in the monthly rental price. According to Ivan Yuryk, acting Chairman of the Board of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia", it can be concluded that there is a significant interest of business in using stations for work and increasing their level of comfort for travelers.

What and for How Much Was Leased?

During the auctions, Ukrzaliznytsia sold lease rights for 18 objects with a total initial cost of UAH 73,400. These are commercial station areas of such facilities:

- station "Dnipro-Holovny";
- station "Zaporizhzhia-1";
- station "Khmelnytskyi".

As a result of the auction, the starting price of some objects increased significantly, and in total increased to UAH 108,200. This provided the company with 47% more profit than planned.

How Will the Leased Areas Be Used?

After all the necessary agreements with the winners have been signed, automatic devices will be placed in the leased station areas that will make the waiting time for passengers more comfortable: terminals for making payments, ATMs, coffee machines, etc., as well as retail outlets for groceries goods (including with the right to sell excisable goods).

What Are the Future Plans of Ukrzaliznytsia?

In total, the company intends to lease the area of 24 stations and expects to receive at least UAH 100 million per year.
