Shortly, the implementation of prisons will begin in the Prozorro Sale system, which are no longer advisable to use for their intended purpose. The Ministry of Justice and the State Property Fund of Ukraine have compiled a corresponding list of institutions that are now at the stage of conservation. Part of the funds received from the sale will go to the state budget, while the other part will remain at the disposal of the Ministry of Justice to build new correctional facilities in more expedient locations and with modern conditions for keeping people.

Which Objects Will Be Put Up for Auction at First

One of the first in Prozorro.Sale will be the Irpen Correctional Center (No. 132), which has been suspended since June 1, 2020. This institution is located in the center of Kotsiubynske (Kyiv region). It includes several buildings with a total area of 27,830 sq. m, located on a land plot of 8.3 hectares.

Also, in 2021, the property of the Lviv correctional colony No. 48 will be put up for auction: these are about 40 buildings with a total area of more than 42,000 sq. m, located on more than 10 hectares of land. The institution has not been functioning for 2 years.

Soon the Southern Correctional Colony No. 51 in Odessa will also become available for purchase. It includes buildings with a total area of 14,482 sq. m, located on a land plot of 6 hectares. The correctional facility has been mothballed since 2019.

All three objects have a convenient location and can be purchased both for refurbishment and for building new buildings.

In total, the government plans to sell 35 prisons through transparent auctions.
