On October 1, an advertisement for the sale of the property of an educational colony in Kovel (Volyn region) was published in the Prozorro.Sale system. The property of the State Institution "Kovel educational colony" will be sold within the framework of the joint "Big privatization of prisons" project of the State Property Fund and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

More About the Lot

All real estate of the Kovel educational colony has a total area of 19,500 square meters and is located on a plot of land with an area of 4.86 hectares. In particular, these are objects:

- hostels;
- school building;
- workshops;
- warehouses;
- administrative buildings;
- utility buildings etc.

Acceptance of applications has already begun, and the auction itself is scheduled for October 28. The starting price of the lot is UAH 41.6 million.

How Many Objects Are Planned to Be Privatized?

In general, the state plans to transfer 35 prisons to private ownership. All of them will be sold through Prozorro.Sale auctions.

The proceeds from the sale of the institutions' property will be distributed as follows:

- 70% will be directed to the construction of new correctional facilities that meet modern standards;
- 30% will be directed to the state budget.

Currently, as part of the "Great privatization of prisons", the property of the State Institution "Southern Correctional Colony (№ 51)" in Odessa has been re-offered for sale.
