Baby Packages at Prozorro

On April 14, the Law of Ukraine of March 30, 21 No. 1359-ІХ (hereinafter - the Law) comes into force. It provides for the introduction of certain amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On State Aid to Families with Children", in particular in the part concerning the distribution of budgetary funds for the purchase of a "baby package". From now on, all goods included in this type of one-time care for women in childbirth will be purchased exclusively using the Prozorro system.

Until now, the legislation has not determined the body responsible for the appointment and payment of state aid "baby package". The Law managed to resolve this issue - now the bodies of social protection of the population, fixed at the place of residence of the parents (adoptive parents or guardians) of the newborn child, have officially become the authorized bodies for this.

How Much Will Cost "Baby Package"?

The starting cost of purchasing items for the "baby package" will be three minimum living wages for children under 6 years old (the minimum living wage will be established by law at the time of organizing a public tender). The final purchase price is determined based on the results of an open tender.

The cost of this type of assistance will not be credited to financial assistance paid at the birth of a child, which today is UAH 41,280.

What Is Included in the "Baby Package"?

The “baby package” contains the items of care that are most needed during the first months of a child's life. A set consisting of the following items is currently relevant:

- disposable diapers for newborns and disposable wet wipes;
- diapers: cotton, flannel, muslin, reusable moisture resistant;
- hats and bodysuits for different ages;
- romper pants, shirts, socks, baby gloves, and a bib;
- thermometers for water and body;
- safe nail scissors;
- blankets, duvet cover, mattress, and terry towel;
- toys developing motor skills and sense organs;
- cream with 100% lanolin content, cream for a baby under a diaper, liquid soap-shampoo and laundry soap for children;
- hygienic cotton swabs with a stopper;
- cradle box.

"Baby package" is issued in any public or private medical institution. Usually - in the hospital, in the first hours after childbirth.
