Despite all difficulties and inconveniences that Ukraine had to face this year, our site continues to actively work and develop to ensure comfortable work for customers and suppliers. In this article, Serhii Antoniuk, head of the SmartTender new client adaptation team, and Viktoriia Leontieva, head of the SmartTender account support team, will summarize the year 2022, and talk about the peculiarities of the work and the successes of the commercial direction since the beginning of the war.

Charitable Organizations

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, we have realized that it is especially important to promptly ensure uninterrupted purchases of charitable funds that help people throughout Ukraine. Therefore, we offered voluntary organizations to conduct tenders using the Smart Procurement tool. Thus, after February 24, 20 charitable foundations joined us to regularly purchase goods and services for humanitarian and military needs.

Since February 24, charitable foundations have conducted 211 tenders for UAH 11,766,530 using our platform. These were purchases of food kits, hygiene kits, generators, and services for the organization of recreation in the west of Ukraine for children.

Support of Ukrainian Business

Supporting Ukrainian businesses has become an equally important direction for us. For our part, we did everything to provide users with high-quality service and involve as many suppliers as possible in procurement.

Since February 24, 50 commercial customers have joined Smart Procurement. All new clients are representatives of small, medium, or large businesses. The most common industries in which they work are energy, construction, logistics, and the agricultural industry.

What Was the Dynamics of Commercial Bidding on SmartTender.biz in the Second Half of 2022?

In the summer, we were already preparing an article in which we told how purchases changed after February 24.

As expected, during the last six months, the dynamics of commercial purchases practically recovered to the pre-war level and maintains consistently high indicators.

On average, the daily number of active commercial purchases on the site was as follows:

- July – 1,306 active purchases per day;
- August – 1386;
- September – 1467;
- October – 1211;
- November – 1278;
- December – 1,301 (as of December 16, 2022).

After the massive shelling of the energy infrastructure since October, the dynamics of purchases decreased slightly, but it is clear that the business is adapting to the conditions of regular blackouts. So even despite this, we are currently seeing a gradual increase in activity.

Starting from July 1, commercial customers announced most often purchases in the following categories:

- Communication equipment – 2,224 tenders;
- Transportation services – 1,768 tenders;
- Construction and assembly work – 1,213 tenders;
- Fuel – 866 tenders;
- Food products – 515 tenders.

About the Achievements of the Commercial Direction

The results of the work of the commercial bidding department on SmartTender in 2022 were as follows:

1. 478,219 trades were conducted. Among them are 2,226,426 items.
2. The average number of price offers in one commercial tender was 4.7. But the record-breaking category in terms of the level of competition was "09134220-5 – Diesel fuel", where an average of 21.6 bids were submitted.
3. The average savings for all commercial auctions conducted on SmartTender.biz amounted to 30.2%. The largest savings recorded by our team in one purchase of a commercial organizer was 54.3%.

As we can see, despite martial law, purchases on the electronic platform allow customers to buy everything they need for their work faster and more profitably. And the saved budgets can be allocated to future purchases or other needs.

Technical Improvements on the Site

We slowed down for a while with the technical improvements for our organizers, but we soon resumed the development of our software. We already wrote about some new functionality in this article:

1. Adding of approvers – depending on the purchase, approval can be done by different people, so now you can independently choose the approver you need in the system.

2. Chat – allows you to communicate with managers of your company regarding a specific tender. You also have the opportunity to mention a certain colleague through the "@" sign or mark the necessary tenders. And you can express your emotions better with added emoticons.

3. Notifications – now it has become even easier and more convenient to find out in real-time about the events and movements taking place with any tender. For example, the system will automatically notify you about a new offer in your tender.
